As an elementary school teacher, this is the perfect book to share with young, as well as older students. The younger students will enjoy the left side of the story, while the older students will be fascinated by the interesting facts about George Washington, on the right side. And of course, what child at any age can resist a storyteller like Skylar!

Love it! (5 Star Review)
I bought this book for my 6 year old daughter. She loved it! She likes books about history, but cute little Skylar makes this book fun! I ended up purchasing one for her first grade classroom and as a gift for one of her friends. Great book!

Cute, but more important educational! (5 Star Review)
I purchased this book for several kids in my life - however, none are my own. Once I got the book and had the opportunity to read it myself, I was blown away. This book provides so many facts about George Washington that most people don't know. It presents the information in a fun way for kids to enjoy and learn, but also has some great information for adults too. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great way to educate their children while keeping them entertained!

The perfect way to teach history! (5 Star Review)
Meet Skylar...an adorable pup with a great knack for history. Travel along with her as she journeys through the days of one of our country's greatest heroes...George Washington.

Skylar and George Washington, written by Matt Burgess, is a truly remarkable read. Combining fun with actual history is the perfect way to teach children, both big and small alike.

This wonder puppy is there with our first president through thick and thin. From the day he was born, all the way until his death, and many adventures in between.

Each page is written in flowing rhyme, describing the events in George Washington's life. The adjoining page goes into much deeper detail, along with quotes and dates.

The pictures are eye-popping. Beautiful photographic snapshots, combined with colorful and fun animated graphics, make this book a treasure. This makes it easy for children to relate and realize the reality of the events the book is describing.

I love how I can use this book to teach all of my littles, from toddler to teen. How, you may ask?

Well, from colors to animals for the little ones, to facts, dates, and a delving point for historical information for the older children.

Ezra loved looking at the cows and bright contrast of the photos. Jonas and Micah enjoyed pointing out George Washington and searching for Skylar's dog treats on every page.

And Elias and Ashley were enthralled in learning the informational tidbits the book had to offer, like George Washington's sweet tooth for ice cream.

As they get older, I definitely plan on including Skylar and George Washington in my homeschool lessons each year. I can totally see this as being an invaluable and amazingly interesting way to enjoy history.

Not to mention that my children (especially Elias) are entranced with anything that has Washington's name mentioned.

That might make them a bit partial, but my review is totally unbiased, I promise!

I think the favorite part of Skylar and George Washington's adventures for my children have been the coloring pages. You can sign up to receive free coloring pages from the book delivered to your email!

Yet another awesome feature to make the book even more interactive and valuable.

So Matt Burgess, kudos to you!

You have had a tremendous impression on my children by making history come to life. You've showed the character and virtue of George Washington so well, that my child's hero has swelled to honorable proportions.

(Oh, and finding out Skylar is an actual real live dog? Totally cool, according to my 8 year old!)

I cannot recommend Skylar and George Washington enough. If you want a fun and engaging way to share the love of history and our founding father's stories with your little ones, you must get this book.

Entertaining and Educational (5 Star Review)
This book is bright and engaging. Colorful pictures, friendly characters, a rhyming story and loads of historical facts make this a book that will grow with your children. Little ones will enjoy following Skylar (the pup) and George in their adventures while older children will enjoy digging into the historical content. We are looking forward to the next Skylar adventure!

SKYLAR and George Washington (5 Star Review)
I purchased this book for a friend's child. The book was perfect for this beginning reader, who is motivated to ask questions. He could easily read the left side of each page(written for age 1-3),but could read some of the right side of each page(written for older children and adults). He was fascinated with the age of George Washington on each page, noticing how George changed from young to old. SKYLAR, such a precious pup, made George Washington actually become "real" with wooden teeth and more! The real photos helped to visualize and remember more easily the events of George's life.

Great book to grow with (5 Star Review)
This book is a great book for children of all ages. It works for toddlers up to school age children. The artwork is great and the storyline is interesting.

Excellent History Book for Kids (5 Star Review)
I bought this book for my boss's children as a Christmas present. They are still learning to read, and love the book. The pictures are their favorite part right now, while the parents enjoy the history. They are grateful to have an entertaining, educational piece like this. There is nothing else on the market right now like it. Thanks, Matt Burgess!
